Forest Schools
Forest Schools is an inspirational and exciting approach to learning where children experience and engage in hands-on activities in natural environments. This approach allows children to take a lead on their learning and develop confidence and self-esteem as they encounter new and ‘risky’ activities.
Forest Schools at Woolley Wood is a whole school initiative supporting each and every child to engage in the wonders of nature in a way that is appropriate to them. We promote challenge and risk taking, allowing children to engage in activities outside of their comfort zone in a safe and supported environment. Children will experience a sense of awe and wonder as the forest is used as a place of excitement and endless possibilities, with stories of make believe and woodland creatures we aim to capture the imagination of the children to make anything possible.
The forest School approach can benefit and enhance learning in all areas of the curriculum.
